Position Description

The Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC)
invites applications for a one-year full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the School of Kinesiology
in physical activity and applied public
health. 
The expected start date is
July 1, 2015.

This Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is supported through
research funding provided by the Canadian
Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).  The position will primarily support evaluations
of national, provincial, and local policy and/or programme interventions to
promote physical activity or reduce sedentary behavior.  The successful applicant will work closely
with Dr. Guy Faulkner, CIHR Chair in Applied Public Health, in developing and
conducting evaluations of a range of initiatives. The incumbent will also be
expected to lead analyses of available secondary datasets.

The salary is CAD55,000 per
annum
plus eligible benefits
[1].  The work location will be in the School of
Kinesiology at UBC (Vancouver campus). Given the nature of the work some travel
will be necessary.

This is a one-year position
with the possibility of a one-year extension. 
This position is subject to final funding approval and is contingent on
Dr. Faulkner’s employment at UBC which will commence in July 2015.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Candidates should hold, or expect to hold by the time of appointment, a
doctoral degree for no more than 5 years since being awarded the doctoral
degree in a relevant domain of physical activity and public health. Sound
knowledge and experience of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies are
essential.  The successful applicant will
possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
