Position Description

The College of Public Health at The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Researcher. The position will be housed in the Department of Health Promotion and report to Dr. David Dzewaltowski, Endowed Community Chair in Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Prevention and Professor with UNMC and the Buffett Early Childhood Institute. The Dzewaltowski Lab focuses on community systems and their practices, how communities create the conditions in which children grow, learn, and play that determine health promoting behaviors, and methods to facilitate and evaluate the diffusion of evidence-based ideas into communities for population health improvement and the prevention of cancer and other chronic conditions. The position will contribute to two aims: (1) Identification of the systemic drivers of the distribution and determinants of inequities in community population health of children through observation of community and organization systems; (2) Evaluation of population health community-wide and organization (child care, schools, after-school program, youth clubs, youth sport) systems strategies to improve childhood physical activity, nutrition, and decrease obesity.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

PhD in public heath social and behavioral science or related area.
