Position Description

The Family and Consumer Sciences Department at California State University – Sacramento invites applications for a tenure – track assistant professor position in nutrition/dietetics.
– Assignment
• Teach undergraduate courses in nutrition and food/dietetics including principles of food preparation, food safety and sanitation, food production and sustainability,
food service management, and cultural foods. Depending on experience and education the assignment could include other nutrition and food courses.
• Develop a focused and productive area scholarship.
• Provide service to the department, college, University and community.
• Advise and recruit students.
• Work as a cooperative member in the functioning of the department including program and curriculum development, assessment, accreditation and program review.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Minimum/ Required Qualifications
• Earned Doctorate from an accredited university in Food Science, Foodservice Systems Management, Nutrition or closely related field required. ABD Candidates may be considered for appointment with the requirement that the degree must be completed by January 2015 following the start of the appointment.
• Demons trated ability to teach college – level courses
• Potential or proven track – record as a researcher
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills – Preferred / Desired Qualifications
• Registered Dietitian with a current credential status
• Knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences discipline
• Teaching experience
• Professional experiences such as culinary, sustainability, and foodservice
• Interest and ability using information technology in the teaching and learning process
• Active participation in a relevant academic or professional organization
