Position Description

This tenured position will assume major responsibility for :

• Overseeing ongoing, externally funded, health-related research projects (70%)

• Preparing new grant proposals and securing independent research funding (5-10%)

• Providing clinical care within an affiliated primary care clinic (15-30%)

• Participating in departmental and Program in Health Disparities Research projects and

programs, including teaching medical students, residents, and post docs

 

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota is seeking an Associate Professor to join our internationally renowned research department.

 

Required qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a health or related field, or MD/DO with board certification in Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics

• Minimum 5 years of research experience within health-related fields

• Demonstrated evidence of success as a Principal Investigator on grant proposals at a federal level

• Demonstrated experience in publishing in quality, peer-reviewed, high-impact journals and presentations in professional meetings

• Experience mentoring post docs, graduate, and/or medical students

• An established academic track record commensurate with the rank of Tenured Associate Professor

 Preferred qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise and appropriate professional licensure in an area of training and research interest, such as nutrition, chronic disease, mental/behavioral health, medicine, etc.

• Sustained grant funding from the NIH as a Principal Investigator

• Record of accomplishment of interdisciplinary and community-engaged research

• Evidence of collaborations and partnerships within and outside own department, and spearheading multi-disciplinary collaborations with diverse teams

• High priority will be given to candidates who display enthusiasm for research, with interests that complement those of current faculty members
