Pediatric Obesity Presents: A Live Virtual Event in Memory of Dr. Leann Birch to Launch a Special Issue dedicated to her work: “Parenting and the Development of Eating Behaviors in the Growing Child”
Co-edited by Dr. Ian Paul and Dr. Maureen Black

Dr. Birch was a pioneer in the study of individual and contextual factors influencing the development of food preferences and controls of food intake in infancy and early childhood, and their implications for obesity risk. In honor of Dr. Birch’s impact on the field of pediatric obesity, we present a special issue across a wide range of topics that are related to associations among parenting, children’s eating behaviors, and growth and development during childhood.
During this 2-hour live event, authors of papers selected for publication in the special issue will deliver short summaries of their work and how it was influenced by Dr. Birch, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. We encourage live attendance, but a recording of the presentations will be made available after the event for those unable to attend, and we encourage everyone to read the Special Issue, which will be published in Pediatric Obesity in September.

This initiative is supported by the World Obesity Federation and Wiley.
