Position Description

What We Are Looking For:

The Department of Biobehavioral Health (https://hhd.psu.edu/bbh) at Penn State invites applications for multiple ongoing, full-time, in-residence, academic year (36-week), non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor (rank determined based on prior experience) positions to support our undergraduate curriculum. The Department of BBH is a large, vibrant, and uniquely multi-faceted program that examines the space where biological, psychological, environmental, cultural, and global factors converge to affect health and wellness across the entire human lifespan. Penn State has a formal process for career development and promotion for non-tenure faculty, and instructors in these positions would be eligible to participate in that process. We are particularly interested in individuals whose pedagogy fits within the department’s interdisciplinary focus on integrating biological, environmental, psychosocial, and contextual processes as related to health. The individuals who fill these roles will each instruct six sections of BBH course offerings per year and be involved with service to the department. There may be opportunities to be involved with other aspects of our curriculum and department initiatives.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

The desired candidates will hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biobehavioral Health or a related field including (but not limited to) psychology, neuroscience, other biological sciences, or public health. Instructional experience in areas related to BBH is strongly preferred. The individuals must be able to work effectively with diverse populations and audiences as evidenced by previous work and life experiences.
