Position Description

KINESIOLOGY
DEPARTMENT, Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, CA is accepting
applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure track position for
assistant professor of health promotion, beginning September 14, 2015. Salary
is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Required:

Doctorate in Health Promotion, Health Education,
Community Health, or Public Health. Must have the ability to teach health
promotion program planning, implementation and evaluation; drug education; and
graduate level health behavior change, and teach in two of the following areas:
school health education methods; community health; epidemiology; general
education health education, multicultural health, or women’s health; graduate level
current health issues. Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and to involving undergraduate
and graduate students in research. Develop and maintain scholarly activities
with external funding and occasional external validation. Willingness to work
closely with faculty in related areas.

Preferred:

Curriculum development in undergraduate health
promotion/health science. Experience with community-based research in health
promotion; obesity/diabetes prevention; physical activity and public health;
community health; environmental and policy change; program evaluation.
Experience with qualitative approaches. Certified Health Education Specialist
or CHES eligible. Research, publication and external funding history. Further
