Position Description

Deakin University recently re-designated the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (CPAN) as a research institute, the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN).  IPAN is a multidisciplinary research institute spanning biomedical, clinical and population health research with world class expertise in both nutrition and physical activity. IPAN’s vision is to improve the health and quality of life of Australians through nutrition and physical activity research excellence.

The Senior Research Fellow – Metabolism will conduct research in the area of metabolism focused on health and disease (eg protein/lipid/carbohydrate metabolism as they relate to health and disease; diabetes/obesity; sarcopenia; neuromuscular disease). Examples of current project areas include: regulation of skeletal muscle and liver metabolism in diabetes and obesity; regulation of skeletal muscle protein synthesis during ageing; characterising cancer metabolism; regulation of metabolism in motor neuron disease and muscular dystrophy
