Position Description

Deakin University recently re-designated the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (CPAN) as a research institute, the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN).  IPAN is a multidisciplinary research institute spanning biomedical, clinical and population health research with world class expertise in both nutrition and physical activity. IPAN’s vision is to improve the health and quality of life of Australians through nutrition and physical activity research excellence.

The Senior Research Fellow – Health Inequalities will conduct research in the area of physical activity or nutrition promotion with a focus on socioeconomically disadvantaged groups and addressing inequalities. Examples of current project areas include: intervention studies testing the feasibility, effectiveness and equity impact of incentives to promote healthy behaviours; skills-based food programs; behaviour change programs delivered using novel technologies for improving physical activity and eating among those with low incomes or education levels; quantitative analysis of secondary data sources to address novel questions relating to socioeconomic inequalities in physical activity, diet, body weight and associated disease outcomes.
