Position Description
Available from 1 September 2014 for 42 months, the post will entail working as a Project Manager for a large multi-disciplinary research team conducting a cluster randomised controlled trial investigating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a novel physical activity loyalty scheme to maintain behaviour change, involving qualitative and quantitative research.

Major duties include being responsible for managing the conduct of a cluster randomised controlled trial investigating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a novel physical activity loyalty scheme to maintain behaviour change, including developing protocols, recruitment, execution of study protocol, data collection (qualitative and quantitative), data entry and data management and analysis.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
1. A primary degree in a public health related subject such as human biology, psychology, education or social science.
2. Have or be about to obtain a relevant PhD in public health related subject.
3. At least 3 years’ recent research experience and skills relevant to this project e.g. qualitative research, statistical analysis, randomised controlled trials.
4. Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in research methods and techniques pertinent to public health intervention research.
5. Experience of using data analysis packages such as SPSS or NVivo.
6. Experience of project management.
7. Excellent IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office suite.
8. Excellent organisational skills.
9. Excellent inter-personal skills.
10. Evidence of ability to write reports and meet deadlines.
11. Evidence of ability to deal competently with administrative tasks.
12. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
13. Ability to give formal presentations.
14. Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
15. Access to transport and willingness to travel to meet the needs of the post.
16. Ability to work outside normal hours when necessary
