Position Description

Applications are invited for
a 31 month Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow  in the UKCRC Centre
of Excellence for Public Health (Northern Ireland) at Queen’s University
Belfast.

The post
will entail working as a Project Manager with a large multi-disciplinary
research team conducting a natural experiment investigating the public health
impact of the Connswater Community Greenway, a 9km urban greenway (
http://www.connswatergreenway.co.uk/). The
post will involve working with others in the UKCRC Centre of Excellence for
Public Health, the East Belfast Partnership and other stakeholders to implement
the PARC study (
http://www.connswatergreenway.co.uk/reports-and-research/parc-study)
of the impact of the greenway on the health and wellbeing of local
residents, in accordance with the grant awarded by the National Prevention
Research Initiative (NPRI).


Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Candidates should have or be about to obtain a relevant PhD in
public health science such as epidemiology, medical statistics, human
geography, exercise science, health promotion, health psychology or in a
discipline in a related area of professional practice. They should 
First or upper second class honours degree or
equivalent related to a public health science such as epidemiology, medical
statistics, human geography, exercise science, health promotion, health
psychology or in a discipline in a related area of professional practice.

They
should also have at least 
3 years’ recent research experience and
skills relevant to this project e.g. experience of data analyses in
epidemiological studies with relevance to public health or in related areas
with a focus at a population level and experience of using data analysis
packages and in management, co-ordination and analyses of epidemiological
or related population/community based studies.
