Position Description

The Nestlé Research Center (NRC) located near Lausanne, Switzerland is one of the leading research laboratories in food and nutritional sciences. With over 500 colleagues from over 40 nationalities, NRC has a strong position in the international scientific community supported further by more than 200 external scientific partnerships, multiple University collaborations and more than 100 scientific publications each year. Nestlé Research Center conducts up to 60 clinical trials in the areas of healthy nutrition, medical nutrition, metabolic disease, gastro-intestinal health amongst others. To complete our Consumer Science and Applied Nutrition department, we are looking for a Behavioral Science Group Leader.


Demonstrating leadership and excellent networking skills, you will be leading an Expert Group in Behavioral Science and will be playing key and pioneering role in a global R&D expert network in this area. You will lead the NRC "Behavioral Science" group through developing scientific strategy, proposing and executing projects with internal and external partners. In addition, you will be managing group resources, developing talents in the team and representing the team with respect to internal and external stakeholders. Translating scientific findings into business applications (products and services) delivering against Nestlé’s NHW ambition will be one of your key responsibilities as well.


Key responsibilities


  • Manage the scientific strategy of the team on Behavioral Science
  • Lead and develop a team of ca. 5 scientists in the area of Behavioral Science, Consumer & Sensory Science, senior level
  • Manage group resources for on-time and in-quality delivery in research projects
  • Translate science into business applications in collaboration with corporate entities across organizational boundaries
  • Build and foster partnerships with external research organizations
  • Active contribution to internal and external expert networks
Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Education and experience


  • PhD in the field of Behavioral Science, you are recognized as an expert notably in Behavior Change, Cognitive Behavioral Psychology and/or Behavioral Economics
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of eating behaviors or health behavior change (e.g. academic positions or in the industry)
  • Proven record of applying academic research to the design of products, services, policies, communications
  • Experience in managing and driving complex projects and in leading and developing people
  • Experience in building & managing relationship with key internal & external stakeholders at senior and executive level
  • Experience collaborating internationally
  • Experience in the food industry is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, additional languages are a plus
