Position Description

The School of Kinesiology, College of Education and Human Development, UMTC, is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Kinesiology with a specialization in Human Motor Control and Learning, Motor Development or Biomechanics. The appointment is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, as contingent upon qualifications and University processes. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The start date is August 31, 2020, which is the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year. The position expectations include: • Establishing an active and independent research program in one of the fields in Human Movement Science. Candidates with expertise in relevant sub-disciplines of movement science such as motor development, motor learning, neuro-motor control and/or biomechanics are encouraged to apply. • Seeking and securing external research funding to support research and other scholarly work. The applicant should have a demonstrated record of research productivity, such as a record of applying and securing external funding in areas directly related to Movement Science (e.g., external funding agencies such as NIH, NSF). • Disseminating research findings through publication and presentation in the scientific community. • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Movement Science. • Mentoring and advising masters and doctoral students for thesis and dissertation research. • Serving at the departmental, college and University levels, as well as in the greater professional field and community.

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)

Required Qualifications • Ph.D. in Kinesiology/Movement Science or a closely related degree in the biological, psychological and/or engineering sciences by the date of hire. • Teaching experience in the Movement Sciences and related fields at the university level. • Initial record of research productivity demonstrated by publication in high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals. Preferred Qualifications • Two or more years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher. • A record of research productivity that includes the submission and securing of external funding and a demonstrated record of high-quality, peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals. • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience in conducting interdisciplinary and collaborative research with colleagues in related fields. • Demonstrated experience in advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
