Position Description

The School of Health and Exercise Sciences
at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan campus invites applications
for a faculty position in Health Promotion
at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin as early as July 1, 2016.

 

The School seeks
an individual with demonstrated expertise in health promotion as it pertains to
the individual, community, or population.
Candidates
with research foci in health behaviour change, health psychology, and/or
knowledge translation are strongly encouraged to apply. Substantial experience
in community-based research with special populations will be considered an
asset.
The successful
candidate must
have a well-established academic record
of independent scholarship, including sustained high quality publications and
an externally funded research program. They must also be able to demonstrate
excellence in the mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and
junior faculty, as well as
the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment, and complement
and extend existing research activities both in the School and across the
university.

autonomous campuses in the province of British Columbia—one in Vancouver one in
Kelowna. Situated in the Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of the
province, Kelowna is experiencing rapid growth and is considered one of the most
desirable regions to live in Canada. The School of Health and Exercise Sciences
was launched in July 2011 and currently has 18 faculty members, over 700
undergraduate students, and 40-50 graduate students. It offers undergraduate
concentrations in health promotion and clinical exercise physiology and
graduate training leading to M.Sc., M.A., and Ph.D degrees.
