Position Description
For the Research Groups ‘Physical Activity Sports & Health’ and
‘Policy in Sports & Physical Activity’ we are looking for applicants
for a full-time tenured academic position in physical
(in-)activity and physical fitness at the Department of Kinesiology, University of Leuven, Belgium.

Research

  • You will conduct
    longitudinal research regarding physical (in-)activity, sedentariness,
    sports participation and physical fitness, from a biomedical and social
    perspective, with special focus on research methodology.
  • You will
    achieve scientific output that adheres to high international standards,
    contributing to the expansion of the national and international research
    collaborations of the department of Kinesiology. 
  • You will attract external research projects and external research funding/financing.

Teaching

  • You will take on teaching responsibilities (among other research
    methods in kinesiology) of the Bachelor curriculum of Physical Education
    & Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy
  • You will take on teaching responsibilities of the Master curriculum of Physical Education & Kinesiology
    The
    candidate is expected to meet the KU Leuven standards regarding
    academic program level and orientation and to adhere to the KU Leuven
    concept of teaching. A commitment to quality of education as a whole is
    implied.

Service

  • You will establish good relationships between research, policy and practice in sport, physical activity and public health
  • You will take charge of domain-specific scientific support services and
    accept responsibilities within the department of Kinesiology,
    contributing to the local and international visibility of the research
    group and department.
Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or doctoral degree that demonstrates
your expertise in the research domain of physical activity, fitness and health. Specialization in
scientific research methods of kinesiology is an asset.
Candidates are
expected to have an excellent research record and good teaching and
training skills, in order to contribute to the research output of the
department and to the quality of its educational program. The high
quality of the candidate’s research should be evident from publications
in international peer-reviewed journals. International research
experience and involvement in international research networks is highly
appreciated.
The official administrative language used at KU
Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at
the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to
enable you to take part in meetings. Before teaching courses in
Dutch or English, you will be given the opportunity to learn Dutch resp.
English to the required standard.
