The Assistant Director of Wellness provides expertise, management and oversight of Campus Dining menus for all venues including
Residential Dining, Retail Dining, Catering and Concessions. Responsibilities include review of all menus and the nutritional database, marketing and communication of all programs related to wellness in order to provide high quality, food and beverage service to the campus community. The position also has responsibility for the oversight of menus for guests with special needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Oversees the menus in all campus eateries to ensure all ingredients represent the nutritional goals in accordance with established policies and procedures
– Oversees all aspects of the special needs program for students, faculty and staff
– Oversees the campus labeling program to ensure all products are labeled correctly and meet with all local and federal regulations
– Provides training to all dining wellness managers and chefs
– Ensures accuracy of the nutritional database in cooperation with the Food Pro Administrator
– Acts as the liaison with Health Services to ensure all programs meet the needs of the campus community
– Designs and develops all marketing and communication efforts and work with University Services Marketing to ensure all nutritional and allergen labeling is accurate and appropriate
– Oversees all web related nutritional information and develops online articles for the campus community.
– Develops a marketing strategy in collaboration with both Health Services and Human Resources to ensure their programs are successful
Position Requires:
-Five to ten years in Food Service with experience in menu development and nutritional guidelines
-Bachelor’s Degree required
-Must be a Registered Dietitian
-Working knowledge of New Jersey State Health Department rules and regulations or Serve Safe
-Strong knowledge of Local, State and Federal Nutritional guidelines
-Experience managing staff
-Proficiency with all Microsoft platforms including the ability to learn new applications
-Ability to manage resources effectively
-Reliability and willingness to take initiative The final candidate must successfully complete a background check.
Preferred: Valid Driver’s License
– Experience managing staff in a union environment
– Ability to lift and control 50 pounds
– Stand or walk up to 2 hours at one time for a total of 6
– 8 hours per day
– Drive for no more than 30 minutes at one time
– Work under a range of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk in refrigerators and freezers, etc)
– Possess physical agility, full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance
