Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

The School of Nutrition and Health Promotion at Arizona State University (in partnership with University of Texas Health San Antonio Cancer Center) invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow to work with Dr. Jennifer Huberty, Associate Professor. 
The postdoctoral research fellow will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students to assist in building an active program of research related to the feasibility and effectiveness of complementary approaches (e.g., yoga, meditation) to improve fatigue and quality of life in cancer patients that will be used to inform applications for large NIH-funded trials between Arizona State University (ASU), University of Texas (UT) San Antonio Mays Cancer Center, and the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center Arizona Campus. This position includes collaborations with colleagues at the UT Mays Cancer Center under the supervision of Ruben A. Mesa, M.D., the Deputy Director of the NCI Designated Cancer Center. The UT Mays Cancer Center is a long-standing NCI Designated Cancer Center recognized for excellence in early phase cancer clinical trials, cancer biology research, and population science. Dr. Ruben Mesa has moved to UT San Antonio as Director of the Mays Cancer Center and has established the myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) program at this site for clinical trials and non-pharmacological interventions. The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center Arizona Campus has over 20 faculty members focusing on laboratory, clinical trials and clinical care of patients with hematologic malignancies. The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and has been rated by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top cancer centers in the United States, the number one center for cancer in the State of Arizona and one of the top in the Southwest.
The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the research including Institutional Review Board approval, recruitment, enrollment, data management and analyses, reviewing protocols, and mentoring masters and undergraduate students. Additionally, the candidate will actively participate in manuscript writing, grant proposals, presenting at academic meetings, and other essential duties as necessary. The candidate will receive training in grant writing and help with the preparation and submission of grant proposals. Opportunities exist for first-authored manuscripts and new projects.
