<p><strong>Network of Early Career Researchers and Students of ISBNPA ‘Shut Up and Write’ session</strong></p>



<p>Have an article or conference abstract that you need to write? Can’t find time to finish reading multiple articles? Or simply want to meet early career researchers working in behavioural nutrition and physical activity research?</p>



<p>The Network of Early Career Researchers and Students of ISBNPA is holding the first online ‘Shut Up and Write (SUAW)’ session.</p>



<p>Come along to an informal and friendly session supporting writing/work productivity and networking for students, post-doctoral and early career researchers.</p>



<p>The session will consist of introductions to get to know other early career researchers, setting of objectives, dedicated writing/working time and sharing progress. Each session will be 3 hours in total.</p>



<p>This will be on: 27<sup>th</sup> October 2022</p>



<p>This will be held in multiple time zones to suit when you work best:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Session Plan</h2>



<p>This one hour webinar will consist of two presentations focusing on effective and novel methods of physical activity processing and data visualization. There will also be an opportunity for discussion and questions.</p>



<p>Our first speaker, Dr. Kelly Mackintosh, is an expert in novel approaches to measure and promote physical activity across the lifespan and disease status, and has over 80 peer-reviewed publications. She will discuss: “The power of co-design for physical activity: what&#8217;s PlayDoh got to do with it?”</p>



<p>Our second speaker, Dr. Tom Stewart, is an expert in using big data and machine learning to tackle a range of public health research challenges, and last year was selected as a keynote speaker at the ISBNPA Xchange initiative.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>There will be 20 minutes or so for discussion. Come prepared to ask a lot of questions!<br>If you are unable to attend, please note that the webinar will be available through a YouTube video on ISBNPA’s website.</p>

Professor Kylie Ball, Deakin University, and Professor Annie Anderson, University of Dundee, will share their views on the best ways to stay motivated during the lockdown period in order to progress with our research. They will also discuss ways we can deal with the unexpected changes to our research plans and stresses associated with our altered working environments. Our guest speakers are current employees of the organizations and both will have very interesting perspectives on the choices they made a long their academic training to attain a research position with these two international organizations. Speakers will describe their current duties (daily, weekly, monthly tasks), the benefits and challenges of pursuing their career, the expectations and evaluation of their performance, and among other things how to be competitive for these types of careers (e.g. choices to make during academic training).
